Hello
Wine Disclaimer
At VinoWednesday.com, we take great pride in offering a carefully curated selection of vintage and aged wines. These wines are unique, and their characteristics have evolved over time, making each bottle a special experience. However, it’s important to understand the inherent nuances and potential risks involved with purchasing older wines (older than 10yrs). Please read the following disclaimer carefully before making your purchase.
1. Bottle Condition and Variation
Bottle Variation: Vintage wines may show significant bottle variation due to differences in storage conditions over the years. Even bottles from the same vintage may taste and age differently.
Sediment: Older wines often contain natural sediment. This is completely normal and does not indicate a flaw. We recommend decanting the wine before serving to separate the sediment.
Flavor Evolution: Vintage wines have developed more complex flavors and characteristics that may differ from when they were first released. Please be aware that the tasting profile of aged wines may not appeal to every palate.
2. Cork Condition
Cork Deterioration: Over time, corks can dry out, weaken, or crumble when opened. This does not necessarily indicate that the wine is flawed. For best results, we recommend using a two-prong cork puller (ah-so) or consulting a professional sommelier when opening older bottles.
3. Storage and Provenance
Storage Conditions: We ensure that our wines have been stored properly in our care. For older wines obtained from private cellars and auctions. We cannot always guarantee their prior storage conditions. Wine is a sensitive product, and prior exposure to heat or light can affect its quality.
Recommended Storage: After purchase, we advise storing your wine in a cool, dark place with consistent temperature and humidity to maintain its integrity.
4. Drinking Windows
Maturity and Drinkability: Some of our wines may have reached or surpassed their peak drinking window. While some may still provide an excellent experience, others may be more fragile and delicate. We recommend consuming older wines soon after purchase to avoid further aging.
5. Non-Refundable Policy
Sold As-Is: Due to the unpredictable nature of aged wines, all vintage bottles are sold as-is and are non-refundable. We do not offer returns or refunds for vintage wines under any circumstances. Please ensure you understand the risks associated with purchasing older bottles.
6. Shipping Considerations
Temperature Sensitivity: Vintage wines are particularly vulnerable to extreme temperatures during transit. We will only ship when the weather permits. This ensures that the bottles are not exposed to harmful conditions like excessive heat or cold, which can damage the wine. We recommend choosing expedited shipping for added protection. We are not responsible for damage caused by temperature fluctuations during shipping.
Shipping Risk: Once the wine has left our facility VinoWednesday.com cannot be held responsible for any damage caused during transit, including cork seepage or wine spoilage.
7. Final Purchase Responsibility
By purchasing vintage wines from VinoWednesday.com, you acknowledge that you understand the risks associated with buying older wines, including potential bottle variation, cork degradation, and changes in flavor profile. You also agree to our non-refundable, as-is policy.
